S.L.umber Yard is a collection of 13 modern cabins beside Leadville's restored historic railroad freight depot.
The cabins were designed to echo the small homes of Leadville's mining era, using reclaimed and recycled materials while keeping the interiors modern and comfortable.
Inside you'll find private bathrooms, kitchenettes, Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, record players, and small details that give the cabins much more personality than a standard hotel room.

Leadville Tiny Homes is a collection of small individual houses near the south end of downtown.

They're more like miniature apartments than rustic cabins and work especially well for travelers who want a kitchen and their own standalone space.

Grand West Village Resort
Grand West Village sits among lodgepole pines on the northwest side of Leadville, giving it a much more wooded feel than staying downtown.

You're still only a short drive from downtown while also being well positioned for Turquoise Lake, Ski Cooper, hiking, biking, and winter recreation.

Cabins Around Twin Lakes
If you don't need to sleep inside Leadville itself, Twin Lakes opens up some of the best cabin lodging in the upper Arkansas River Valley.
The historic village sits beneath Mount Elbert between two large reservoirs, with hiking, fishing, paddling, mountain biking, and Independence Pass all nearby.
Leadville is still close enough for an easy trip into town, but evenings in Twin Lakes feel much quieter and farther away.

Stay Twin Lakes offers a small collection of cabins right in the historic village, within walking distance of the lakes, Visitor Center, trails, local businesses, and seasonal dining.
The Cottage
The largest option has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living area, laundry, and a patio with mountain views.
It sleeps six or more and works especially well for families or small groups who want more than a studio cabin.

Studio Cabins

Why Stay in the Village?
Staying in Twin Lakes Village means you can walk to the General Store, Visitor Center, nearby food and coffee, lake access, and several trail connections.
In summer, Highway 82 continues west over Independence Pass toward Aspen, making Twin Lakes an especially good base for scenic drives.
Creekside Beneath Mount Elbert
Mount Elbert Lodge & Cabins
Mount Elbert Lodge has been hosting visitors in the Twin Lakes area for more than 75 years and offers nine housekeeping log cabins in a wooded setting along Lake Creek and Black Cloud Creek.
Cabins range from one-bedroom retreats for two people to larger multi-bedroom cabins for families and groups. Each has a private bathroom and an equipped kitchen.
Several cabins sit directly beside the creek, and guests also have access to an outdoor hot tub. Some cabins allow dogs with advance approval.
The Black Cloud Trail up Mount Elbert begins right nearby, making this one of the best lodging choices for hikers who want to wake up already in the mountains.

For Two
Waterwheel Cabin
One of Mount Elbert Lodge's smaller cabins is tucked into aspen and pine beside Black Cloud Creek, with an old waterwheel across the stream.
It's a one-bedroom cabin for two with a kitchen, living area, private bath, and a small outdoor sitting area.
The setting is especially good during fall color when the surrounding aspens turn yellow.
For Families
Beaver Lodge & Trail's End
Larger two-bedroom cabins accommodate up to five guests and include full kitchens and living areas.
Beaver Lodge sits directly along the creek, while Trail's End is more secluded and provides quick access toward the Black Cloud Trail and surrounding high country.
For Groups
The Barn & Lodge Cabin
Mount Elbert Lodge also has larger cabins for families, small reunions, and groups that want to stay together.
These combine multiple bedrooms with shared kitchens, living spaces, decks, and easy access to the rest of the Twin Lakes area.
Go Off the Grid
Tennessee Pass Sleep Yurts
Tennessee Pass offers six backcountry sleep yurts north of Leadville near Ski Cooper.
Getting there is part of the experience. Guests hike, ski, or snowshoe roughly a mile from the Nordic Center through the forest to reach the yurts.
Each yurt sleeps up to six people and includes handcrafted log beds, bedding, a wood stove, solar lighting, simple cooking equipment, and potable water.
There is no electricity, no shower, and no conventional bathroom. Outhouses serve the yurts, and cell service is limited or nonexistent.
That's exactly why people go.
Good for: couples, families, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, summer hiking, stars, winter trips, and travelers who want an actual backcountry experience without sleeping in a tent.
Make a Night of It
Pair the Yurt With the Cookhouse
One of the more unusual Leadville experiences is combining a night in a Tennessee Pass yurt with dinner at the backcountry Cookhouse.
The Cookhouse sits farther along the trail at about 10,800 feet. Guests ski, snowshoe, or hike in for a multi-course dinner, then head back through the forest to their yurt for the night.
Reservations are required for both lodging and meals, and dogs are not allowed in either the Cookhouse or Sleep Yurts.

For a Couple

Tennessee Pass does not allow dogs in the Sleep Yurts.
