Follow the River

One river, very different landscapes

The Arkansas River begins high in Colorado's mountains. Near Leadville the river is small and cold. Around Granite and Buena Vista it enters famous whitewater reaches including Pine Creek and The Numbers.

Farther south, the river passes through Browns Canyon National Monument, the Salida Valley, Bighorn Sheep Canyon, and the Royal Gorge before reaching Cañon City.
